The first video of the new album from KYU will be released December 1st. It will be the song “RL”. This video is shot and edited by the English-Dutch video group: Vindoism. It will give a first glimpse of the new material.

Tonight on National Dutch TV. Check madiwodovrijdagshow tonight at 22:00 Ned 3. This is a promo for Deaf Metal, with a song from the upcoming album SVRGN by KYU.

It’s been done before with several dance genres, but never before with metal: a music event especially for the deaf and hard of hearing. Metal now too has been made accessible for the deaf. Friday November 19 will see the first edition of Deaf Metal at the Willemeen in Arnhem.

The line-up consists of Venezuelan doom metal army Cultura Tres, Dutch post-core/sludge band IZAH and Dutch nu-metallers KYU. The music will be complemented by visual music interpreters who will not only translate the lyrics into sign language, but also capture the rhythm and feel of the music into dance and movement. Next to this the venue will have a vibrating rhythm floor and (deaf) VJ-team Dr. Blu will provide a visual interpretation through video images. In between the bands, computer animation artist Arno Koenen will show his work under the musical guidance of DJ Kidgoesting.

Deaf Metal is a metal party for the deaf and hard of hearing, but also for hearing people. The interpretation of the music by the visual music interpreters, visual artists and the rhythm floor is sure to be a unique experience for everyone. Also, sign language interpreters will help audience members communicate with each other. No interpreter around? Simply type what you want to say into your cell phone. And of course you can also just come in to simply enjoy an evening of good metal!

Dit najaar zorgt de NDRGRND iedere vrijdagavond voor interessante bands op haar knusse podium. Een prima initiatief, waarvoor niet eens entree betaald hoeft te worden, hulde! Vandaag is het de beurt aan Geiser en King Locust. Een gewaagde keuze, aangezien het niet de bands zijn waar een legioen gillende keukenmeiden en indiekids warm voor lopen.

Gelukkig kent Nijmegen nog andere muziekliefhebbers; beide bands kunnen rekenen op de aandacht en het geduld van het publiek. Geiser vuurt als eerste hun ontregelende en tegendraadse geluidsexplosies op de bezoekers af. Een orgie van psychedelica, noise en heavy rock, gecompleteerd met een ‘zanger’, die het zaakje nog verder laat dissoneren. De repeterende loopjes, knarsende effecten en brute grooves kronen Geiser tot één van de koningen van de Nijmegen Rock City-scene.

Hoewel de band graag het gehele optreden blijft ontsporen, weten de muzikanten inmiddels beter te doseren en blijven ze het publiek verrassen met muzikale vondsten. Geiser is er nog niet, maar komt steeds dichter tot het monster dat in haar leeft.

King Locust mag daarna aan de slag. De donkere muziek van het Arnhemse viertal gaat ‘deep, down and a little dirty’. De doomrockers klinken vandaag kamerbreed en bij vlagen zeer hoogpolig. Als een prikkelende, warme laag, schurend over je huid, imponeert King Locust van begin tot eind. De band speelt voornamelijk  nummers van het nieuwe album Poète Maudit en opent met Meth – tevens het eerste nummer van het album. Meth is een absoluut hoogtepunt. Het slepende nummer bezit alles wat King Locust zo goed maakt: prachtige ingehouden vocalen, een diepe bas, een bloedmooi gitaarthema, rollende maar strakke drums en een oceaan der leegheid. Het is een nummer om de tijd voor te nemen en dat doet de band maar al te graag.

De vier lange mannen uit Arnhem spelen vandaag op ontspannen wijze een bezwerend optreden, dat misschien wel één van de sterkste van het muzikale najaar van de Ndrgrnd zou kunnen zijn. En dat met zeker niet alledaagse muziek; chapeau! Daar kunnen alle fatsoensrakkers en dogmatische lieden op het congres in Arnhem dit weekend nog wat van leren. Zo kan het ook!

The first show with King Locust and Streetcarb @ luxor, Arnhem was a great succes.  Two months before the show it was already sold out. Sadly the new age peasants quit.  So Ten Page Pilot did the opening.
